1. Heat. This environmental stress negatively impacts survival by causing dehydration to the human body. It disrupts homeostasis as too much heat can cause permanent brain damage, and the shutting down of vital body parts. This is why internally humans search for shade when it is too hot outside as to cool down, and why water is so important in hot temperatures. We can see this with areas like Africa and areas that are close to the Earth's equator. In Africa for example the average temperature in a country like Ethiopia is around 93 degrees. And Africa has also seen some of the most extreme records in heat at 136 degrees in Libya. Heat can be seen as the environmental stress into why the African race has slim tall bodies, reducing their surface area in order to escape heat. Short Term 2. A. Short Term: For short term humans have the ability to adapt by releasing sweat or perspiration across ones body in order to cool it down. Facultative B. Facultative: For facult

Piltdown Hoax Assignment

1. The Piltdown hoax was first established by the finding of "humanoid" remains in 1912 in the village of Piltdown in England.  The amateur archeologist Charles Dawson made this discovery in a gravel pit by digging up a skull, and later on finding a piece of jaw bone that resembled an ape jaw with teeth in the weathered down pattern of a human. This finding lead scientists to believe that the remains predated the French, and German remains that were found in their respected countries. In the scientific community this shook things up as it showed a humanoid ancestor that resembled primates. People thought that there was a missing link when there wasn't, leading scientists to depict human evolution as a direct lineage to a primate one. This isn't the case as evolution is more of tree branches than a linked chain. The discovery was found to be a hoax 40 years later when science techniques had advanced and they had decided to find out how old the pieces of bone were. By m

Analogy/ Homology Blog Post

1. The Human, the Cat, the Whale, and the Bat are all mammals that share the homologous bone structure in the arm. As you can see with the image provided above they all share a similar bone structure including the humerus, radius, ulna, carpals, and phalanges. The homology between each species is different because of the environment they are in. For example, a bat lives up in trees or caves and uses its wings to fly from one place to another, while the whale is a sea-based mammal and uses its flipper to navigate through the water. Generally a common ancestor for these mammals was a vertebrate ancestor as they all share the trait of having vertebrae. 2. The Shark, the Penguin, and the Dolphin are all different animals that have the analogous trait of having fins. As you can see with the image provided above they all share the trait of having a fin in which helps them navigate through the water. The analogous trait is that the penguin and the dolphin have ancestors in which are not

Scientific Method Post

1. It is possible that the student keeps falling asleep from the lack of caffeine in his system. 2. Test: a. To test the hypothesis out I would bring in a cup of Cold Brew iced coffee from Starbucks as it is a high caffeine item from the store. I am altering conditions by introducing caffeine into the student's system. b. If the students stays awake then the hypothesis would be supported. c. If the student fell asleep after the introduction of caffeine in his system then the hypothesis would be proven false. 3. To provide an untestable, unfalsifiable example I would say that 5th-dimensional beings with untrackable technology were undetectably putting the student to sleep through the use of unreadable. untrackable, invisible sleeping darts causing the student to go to sleep.
